Has anyone ever heard of the political projections site FiveThirtyEight? A friend turned me on to it, and already I'm wishing I hadn't followed the link.
Take a peek:
Now, to quote DCup, what kind of fuckery is this?
Is this country really going to elect McFossil and MooseAlaska? Are people really that fucking stupid?
Tell me it's all just bullshit or propaganda or something. Please.

That's bullshit designed to make the faint hearted lose heart and not vote.
All I know is that my state is dumb, so I fully expect McFossil to get our 20 electoral votes.
Rule #1. Not all pollsters are disinterested and objective.
Rule #2. Refer again to rule #1.
My hubby reads the polls every day, (about 15 or so) and reads all the internals of each. He says there is nothing to be worried about so far. The polls are turning back to Obama again, Palin is losing badly and so is McCain. The bump is over, reality has returned.
Hogwash!
It's a numbers site, and it looks to me like their methodology is pretty decent. However...like afeather mentions, the polls are indicating that the momentum is shifting back to Obama.
Go back to 538 and scroll down. Look for a list of news story links on the lower left of the page. There's one titled "Tracking poll momentum shifts to Obama"
There's too much red on those pie charts.
I admit a little addiction issue with the website, but I take all polls with a shaker of salt for all the reasons your other commenters noted.
Thank you for the link - it was the perfect use for the fuckery line.
Dr Monkey--behind every faint-hearted liberal, there should stand a strong monkey like yourself.
Randal--sorry, man.
Feather--let's hope so!
GKL--hee hee
Bubs--I did noticed headlines on other feeds saying that Obama was moving back to the top. Whew.
Enc--I love you.
DCup--glad you approve! It was the obvious choice!
No worries.
It's trending back towards sanity. That stuff was the height of McSame's convention bounce.
I REALLY think dems need to move their convention to after the republicans.
