You jest, but you may be onto something. Many who use the traditional swear words rate quite low. Bush! Bush! Cheney! Cheney! Rumsfeld! Rumsfeld!
I'm sure your mom isn't mad at you for saying those two words, just disappointed.
What's wrong with cussing? I think it is just the use of more colorful words in context.
