Six Random Things About Me

a random picture of a quail, which always cheers Delia up

Liberality tagged me to post six random things about myself. Here are the rules:

Link to the person who tagged you.
Post their rules on your blog.
Write six random things about yourself.
Tag six random people by linking to their blogs.
Let each of the six know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment (on their blogs).
Let your tagger know when your entry is up.

So--shall we begin?

1. I've never had the flu, measles, mumps, or even the chicken pox. I'm 43 now, though, so if I did get something like chicken pox, I'm told I'd probably have to be hospitalized. Can you imagine? Just for chicken pox! Of course, I love to scratch when I'm itchy, so they'd probably have to sedate me or strap me down so I wouldn't scratch--so maybe a hospital is the best place for me if I get the pox.

2. I'm not much of a traveler. I've never been out of the country except to go to Mexico (to visit my mom's family) when I was a kid. I have only visited a few states, too--all the ones on the bottom row of the country, plus just a few others. But I've never been in the Midwest or the Northeast. Not even Colorado. I would like to, but there's always something else to spend money on besides travel, I guess.

3. I have what The Kat calls "Restless Body Syndrome." I don't just get the jimmy-legs; I get the jimmy-body, often tossing and turning and itching and scratching and just readjusting all over. It doesn't happen every night, but when it does, it's really annoying to both of us.

4. I have flat feet.

5. (okay, I'm struggling now to think...) I really enjoy grocery shopping. I've often thought I should offer myself out to shop for other people who don't like the grocery store (like almost everyone I know). But unless I lived in a big city, with lots of lazy-ass rich people who'd pay me for this service, it will remain in the file drawer marked "crazy job ideas."

6. Speaking of crazy job ideas, I'd really like to someday open a coffeehouse/restaurant, one of those cool places that resells books, has great organic fair trade coffees, offers whole vegetarian food, hosts guitarists and other entertainers, and is an all-around great place to hang out. I doubt it will ever happen, but it's also in that "crazy job ideas" folder.

Now--I am suffering from a very bad cold/sinus thingie today, so I don't know if I can think of six random people who haven't already done this meme. I think I'm going to just say that if you wanna do it, do it. If not, don't. And pass me the tissues, please.

very bad cold/sinus thingie

Where I come from we call this a flu.

I thought the flu also made you have an upset stomach and all kinds of poo troubles. ??

Feel better, now.

I have restless legs (and body) sometimes. Antihistamines aggravate it. Iron seems to help me(no, not getting hit in the head with one).
Try iron if it drives you or Kat crazy. Don't take any of those drugs that make you operate heavy equipment with an upset stomach.

If you ever open that coffee shop plan on me being there, it sounds like the kind of place I'd love to hang out at. Feel better soon!

Oh...feel better soon. I hate sinus infections, they hurt like hell.

When you're better, will you go grocery shopping for me? I hate it, and I also bring my mom and mother-in-law shopping. I spend way too much time in the grocery stores.

Pleeeeeeeaaaase open that coffeehouse/restaurant (when your sinuses are better of course). I'd be there for lunch every day, listening to the guitarists every evening.

I'll try this again...

Try and fond the $$ to travel if you can. I also thought that it was a "waste" of money for a long time.

Now, I love it, especially that I have a great spouse/traveling partner!

A little off topic, but do Quails and Road Runners look a lot a like? Because I saw one cross the road in Nebraska this past weekend (out in the middle of farm land where my mom lives), and it looked like quail, but it scampered like a Road Runner. Quails don't run like that, right? Which do you think it was?

It's been keeping me up at night.

I'm finally back after two days in bed! And I'm still feeling pretty much like poo. Maybe it is the flu?

Tomcat--eek, I'll have to go with veggie broth (vegetarian). But I do miss yummy chicken soup. Thanks for the hugs; I love hugs!

CDP--thanks!

Crow--I do tend to have low iron; maybe I should try taking my iron supplements again. Thanks for the tip!

Liberality--cool! Nice to know I'll have at least one customer. Oh, make that two with Barbara. Thanks!

ME--I'd be happy to shop for you. Um--delivery might be an issue, though...

Jess--Someday! There are great birds out there, and I'd love to meet that gaggle of bloggers too!

Fran--thanks!

Randal--so THAT'S what I'm missing! I'll mix that in with my Dayquil.

Whiskey--you know, the times Kat and I have travelled together have been wonderful. Time and $$ are our biggest constraints. But maybe someday. I'd love to go to Europe.

GKL--I think roadrunners are a lot bigger than your average quail, their legs are lots longer, and their bodies are far more streamlined. Perhaps you saw a young roadrunner? They're not that rare in your neck of the woods.

i hope you are doing better!. cant you get vaccines for some of those childhood illnesses?

TomCat said...

Then here are more {{hugs}} and sorry for upsetting your vegetarian sensibilities, but it's instinctive for a TomCat to offer a dead bird. :-)

DCap--I'm afraid of the vaccines...

Tomcat--so true, as my kittehs often bring me dead mice....
