The end.

I remember my laundromat days. I don't miss them; it was fine when I was doing laundry just for me, but add in a husband and two little dirt magnets and I'm glad I have machines at home.

Wow. Nice pictures. 6000 words worth of laundromat pictures. I have laundry facilities at the Crow's nest, but have spent my share (and then some) of time in laundromats. I find that I slip into a semi-meditative (catatonic?) state in the presence of laundry smells, vinyl floors, and fluorescent lights. Beer usually helps.

CDP--Yeah, it's not so bad just doing my own laundry. Doing the laundry of others makes me bitter enough with home machines; to have to do it at the effing laundromat might drive me to murder.

SorCrow--glad you liked. I too go into that catatonia, even though I take a book with me every single time. I always end up just standing or sitting, staring at the timer on the machine or the clothes spinning in the dryer, like I'm in some sort of fugue state. And you captured the stimuli that induce it--the lights, the floors, the smells.

Shrout it out!

I like the dryer door one - you can vaguely see your reflection in the window, that's cool!

Hi came over from Monkey Muck because I wanted to see the pictures.

Um, where are all the people? My laundromat is always packed!

It's just like I was there, too!

It brought me back to many a laundromat that I have been to. I did not have my own laundry machines until 2001, which was a joyful day in my life.

I did feel some nostalgia for the 'mat upon seeing these great shots though!

The machines look as though they're standing at attention for a military inspection.

That looks like exactly the right place for you! :P

It's a clean and bright laundromat, at least.

Randal--hee hee!

GKL--thanks; I think that's my fave pic as well.

Megan--hello and welcome! You know, it's weird--there's rarely ever anyone besides me at that 'mat. I love it! But it's kinda creepy! Sometimes, I sing right out loud as I sit there, knowing that no one can hear me. (Let's hope they don't have video...)

DCup--we could've played cards or something.

Fran--yeah, since leaving my old life, it's been 'mat city for me. Ugh.

JaneyRuth--that's what I thought too.

Enc--sheesh! yeah, at least it's clean and not too creepy.

Those are great photos! They make me all nostalgic and itching to go to a laundromat at 2:00am. But I have never seen one as nice as yours.

Here in NYC having a washing machine is a big fucking deal. Most of my fellow tenants do no (only the "double" apartment above me has one...I can hear it when the young women living there do not distribute the clothing evenly in the machine...oi). Nope, laundromat for me. That said, um, you bring in your clothes, they weigh them, wash and fold them and put them in a bag. Works for me.

Love it! And thanks for linking to Yikes!

It looked very clean, I know, but you could not help but catch the deadly Splotchy Story Virus at a laundromat. ;)

(Lovely pics, BTW.)

Tell me, O Great One:

When January 20th rolls around, do you intend to continue this blog and pressure for the Impeachment of Obama, or are you going to sell it to some Conservative blogger?

Dr. Monkey Von Monkerstein said...

Brilliant. I love the repetition in the washers and dryers.

Dean--yeah, it's very clean and never crowded!

Zip--no kidding. WTF is that shit?

Barbara--I'm just glad it's not like my old laundromat in Texas, where weird old guys just sat around staring at me all the time and kids ran around screaming. Ick.

PiNY--I'm sure it's a big deal in NY, where space is premium. I wish someone did my laundry for me! I'd pay!

BAC--glad you like, and you're welcome.

Frieda--dammit! Damn those viruses! How long do I have to live??? (gulp)

Anon--fascinating idea, but if you'd read back a little, you'd know I'm changing the bloggy name. Why would I want to impeach Obama? I'll keep advocating for impeachment of Bush/Cheney right up until Obama takes office, however.

Dr. Monkey--that's what I was trying to capture! Glad you liked it.
