Unite, states!
If I had any doubts whatsoever about President-Elect Obama's power to truly unite people of different faiths, philosophies, and beliefs, those doubts evaporated today when the friend of mine from work -- the one I've told you about now and again, the one who said she didn't think we were ready for a black president, who is anti-choice, who said women were too emotional to be president (but who loved Sarah Palin and might've voted for her) -- that friend -- she voted for Barack Obama yesterday.

Wow.
Somehow that is even more amazing than the stories of people celebrating around the world. How heart-warming.
Oh no shit? She voted for the Big O?
Friggin awesome! ;)
Sweet!
I am continually amazed at the ability of this man to reach out and touch people. May his presidency be a success and may he change the face of the world.
DG, well at least your office wingnut voted for Obama. Mine sulked around all day. One even muttered to me "at least some of you will" after I wished him a nice day. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I think a lot of people just faced the fact the Republican policies are highly destructive to the nation and to the lives of most of the American people.
I still haven't stopped marveling that America as a whole....DID THE RIGHT THING.
That really is something. I guess people are turning around.
Awesome. I know several Bush Republicans who voted for him, and even my very conservative Catholic friend, who did not, is not bitter--her attitude is "he's my President now, too, I'll see what he does before I criticise." Just a few people like that might help to end the poisoned political climate of the last 8 years.
Barbara--pretty amazing indeed. No matter what happens, he's bound to do better than Bush, so that's occasion enough to be optimistic!
Dusty--I couldn't believe it. However, she asked that I not mention it to anyone else. (Blogging doesn't count! It's just us here, right?)
Dr. Monkey--people can change--if only for a day.
Feather--I think he's already started, given the reactions around "Old" Europe. Yes!
Spartacus--sore loser!
Libhom--FINALLY.
Susan--it's hard to believe, but I think that for many, it was just that whole "blind squirrel finding the nut" thing. But whatever! We WON!
Enc--there's cause for hope, Enc. Really.
CDP--from the results, it looks like MANY repubs voted for him. Change is coming!
maybe their are some around here like that as well. however, they are not admitting it that's for damned sure.
