I have a newflash for you, NPR:

It is no longer news when Darth Cheney gives a speech.

To call his torture-works jerk-off session this afternoon at some reich-wingnut place "dueling speeches" with President Obama's upcoming Guantanamo-related speech is to assume that what the Dick says is just as important as what the sitting president says.

And that is one stupid, not to mention completely incorrect, assumption.

This morning from about 8:17 to sometime after 9 (Eastern time), NPR repeatedly equated Obama's speech with Cheney's speech. Here's a link to more on their web site: "Also sure to dominate the news are the speeches being delivered this morning by President Barack Obama and former vice president Dick Cheney." At least that's what the web site says -- on air, they didn't use the word "former" even ONCE to describe the Dark Lord.

They also called Cheney's speech "a rebuttal from the Bush Administration." Once again--does ANYONE besides the wingnut population give a shit what Dick or the Bush Administration have to say?

Can't he just disappear and go slaughter some quail or something?

On the other hand, every time he talks he just digs himself in deeper and deeper.

I sure don't.

God, talk about living the Dark Ages, Cheney is still there. I can not believe that there are still people out there who think he speaks the truth--he a major league liar and nothing can change that.

The only time I want to see "Cheney" and "Breaking News" had better be when that thing that passes for his heart finally, mercifully stops.

The asshats at MSNBC did the same thing..dueling speeches, comparing the two and all that.

I left the house after Cheney's speechifying only to return three hours later and it was the same shit on the Boob Tube..they hammered away at it all friggin day.

SorCrow--no kidding!

Kirby--true. But only if we prosecute.

GKL--thanks.

Rick--amen to that!

PiNY--brilliant. Then I want to see it in "second coming"-size type!

Dusty--they're still doing it today! Assholes!

Fox gave fair and balanced news coverage of the dueling speeches. Did you see how Sean Hannity did a Point-Counterpoint comparison?

The trouble with the Obama speech is that it relied on demonizing Bush rather than any real merits of the Obama position. Cheyney, despite his eloquent rebuttal, won by default, as Obama did not offer any real substance.

I want to be with you guys, but you have to give me some reason to be FOR you.

Anon are you high? The Big Dick Cheney™ used a noun a verb and 911 27 fucking times in his speech yesterday.

He clung to his old lies that have been proven as lies for over 5 years now.

The only thing TBDC won was the liars club trophy yesterday.

C'mon dusty, have you already forgotten that Unka Dick can cannibalize with the best of 'em?

Maybe VP Al Gore should rebut Dick's speech--hey, bring in all the former VP's--let Dan Quayle rebut somebody!

Well, first of all, do you all remember how hard we had to hype Al Gore's excellent speeches against the Iraq war in order to get the media to pay any attention to them at all? Of course, Gore, whom the media accused of "only wanting publicity" and "refusing to go away" would never have had the arrogance to time his speech to start right when the president's ended.

And your anonymous troll's assertions are ridiculous and quite clearly based not on Obama's speech, but on the portions of the speech that a right-wing idiot with an ax to grind deemed to allow his meathead audience to see. If someone who obviously cares so little about the truth were to be on my side, I'd be pretty sure I was doing something wrong.

Karen, now that you mention it, I think it's a cying dirty shame that Al Gore did not become President. It's too bad that he missed his only legitimate opportunity to come into the Presidency with any moral authority.

Instead, he had to squander it during the Clinton Administration, playing the TOADY during the Clinton Impeachment instead of decisively taking charge as haarry Truman did. Had Al Gore taken the necessary Moral Stand during the Clinton Impeachment, he would have gone down as a Great President.

See, Guz, if you let a troll snipe long enough, they'll eventually reveal their true nature. Yours is clearly harboring an obsession with the Clinton presidency.

How original.

And yes, how defining it would have been for Al Gore to make a great, moral anti-BJ stance. It could've been the anti-BJ stance that defined his generation for decades to come. Instead, he played the BJ toady and now this great nation of ours wanders in the BJ-ambiguous wilderness.

Not only that, but Al Gore left us at the mercy of the BJ terrorists.

NPR obviously cares what the Dick says--they have a hard-on for the prick ;~)

I've tagged you with the I,Splotchy story virus if your up for it.

Freida Bee said...

Uh-oh. I tagged you too. Do what you will with that, dear. Two different strains, perhaps?

Why is Dick being so outspoken now that he's left office. It makes me nervous. Is it because he didn't get a book deal, or since he's not such a puppeteer, he's bored?

I just hope that the more he doesn't shut up, the more he incriminates himself, by openly admitting to torture. Prosecute the SOB already.

While I do think Bill Clinton was likely guilty of sexual harrassment, and that that should not go unaddressed when it sounds like there were folks who did not sign on for it, but sheeze, he paid a million dollars for his transgressions, and Cheney's far more heinous acts have gone completely unpunished.

Poor Sorghum Crow! He lost his Genius Rating.

Did it have something to do with his "Separated at Birth" photo of that fashion model and that alien?

Could it be that snide remark about that woman with a fur coat having hairy shoulders?

Perhaps it was that potshot against Queen Elizabeth?

How about that unflattering poster of Dolly Parton?

Maybe it had something to do with that Elvis sighting on Mars?

My money's on "All ot the above". The first four items demean women. The Elvis item only compounds the problem.

Sorghum, if you depost the junk that demeans women, maybe you'd get your genius rating back!

Delia, is your delete trash can functioning?
When I see the word 'anonymous' on my Blog, I put my cursor on the trash can while I read the comment.
If it annoys me in the slightest, presto, it's gone.
I guess you can say I'm intolerant of intolerance. Nutters annoy me.
Trash cans are handy.
